Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 [New Orleans, LA] - Louisiana Appleseed is proud to announce that Dr. Ifeyinwa Davis, Program Director, will represent the organization at the Convening on Court Text Reminders in Washington, D.C. Hosted by The Pew Charitable Trusts, this event provides a platform for researchers, policy strategists, and advocacy groups to collaborate on improving court text reminder systems for state-based initiatives.
“I am thrilled to attend this convening with The Pew Charitable Trusts,” said Dr. Ifeyinwa Davis. “Louisiana Appleseed has been working tirelessly to reduce the number of driver’s license suspensions caused by Failure to Appear in Court violations. This event is an incredible opportunity to strategize with fellow advocates and implement innovative solutions that will better serve Louisiana residents.”
The convening will take place on January 30–31, 2025, at The Pew Charitable Trusts headquarters in Washington, D.C. Court text reminders are a proven, evidence-based tool for reducing court no-shows and preventing unnecessary legal consequences. However, many states either fail to utilize this technology effectively or impose limitations that hinder its impact.
Through expert-led presentations, interactive workshops, and collaborative discussions, this event will equip advocates with the research, strategies, and policy tools necessary to drive meaningful reform and enhance access to justice.
