Monday, October 21, 2024 [New Orleans, LA] - On October 17th, Louisiana Appleseed hosted its first inaugural Good Apple Luncheon at Arnaud’s where the 2009 founding board members of Louisiana Appleseed were honored with Good Apple Legacy Awards and paid tribute to the pro bono contributions of Toya Mathis, Vice President & Trust Relationship Manager from Hancock Whitney.
The reimagination of the luncheon was a great success in bringing like-minded individuals together for an afternoon of advocacy, dedication, and honor. This event allowed Appleseed to recognize the efforts of the 2009 founding board members and the work that continues to be done today in pursuit of pushing for positive change within Louisiana.
“I have been to Appleseed events in the past, and honoring the 2009 founding board members this year fosters an incredibly meaningful connection for the organization,” says Jonathan Reynolds, Staff Attorney. “The luncheon honors the roots of Louisiana Appleseed, while also highlighting the today's continued progress towards access to justice, opportunity, and education.”
Appleseed also premiered three new advocacy videos featuring Malcolm Jenkins (Saints, retired) and Kelvin Beachum (Arizona Cardinals) on heirs’ property in Louisiana. Additionally, Appleseed revealed the first-ever map of heirs’ property in Louisiana, including a live demo of a new Will Generator tailor-made for legal aid and related pro bono attorneys.
